Neighbourhood Update

Hello Resident. I hope you’re doing well.

I am Police Community Support Officer Ben Priest here to give you the weekly Neighbour Hood Update.

What has our team been doing?

On Thursday the 10th, our team attended Milebrook Hall, where we spoke to members of the public and spoke to them about any enquiries or issue they may have, helping to relieve any tension or worries the person may have. We were also gave out crime prevention devices what helps people feel more secure in their home as well as being out in the public.

On the same day, members of our team seized a total of three cars for not having valid tax. There were also other vehicles what officers could not seize due to reasons we can’t go into. But Birmingham City Council have been made aware of these other vehicles, where they can seize the vehicles. And Hopefully those vehicles will be gone in the near future.

What’s been occurring in Bartley Green

Since the last WMNOW message, we have received three thefts of a motor vehicle and two attempted thefts of a motor vehicle during the time the Batley Green neighbourhood team has been on. We advise you to ensure that your vehicle is locked and that any windows are fully up and not lowered. We also advise you to install extra security features such as a DISK Lock what will put offenders off from trying to steal your vehicle due to the added strain of the DISK lock. We also advise you to install a Gear stick/handbrake lock as this works just like a DISK Lock, but instead it is for 

your gear stick/handbrake.

We have received two robberies of personal property, where people have had their belongings stolen after being confronted by the offenders. Make sure that when out in public, you are aware of who else is around you. Make sure that you are in view of other members of public, by keeping on main roads instead of going into side streets and alleys. We advise you to look into purchasing Farbgel Sprays what are a non-lethal version of pepper spray and are legal to own and use on someone if they are to become aggressive. This spray is non-toxic and can be used to obscure vision as well as being a bright red dye marker what will stain the offenders skin and cloths, making it easier for police to Identify.

This helps us solves crimes but also helps to keep your community safer.
